( Early Morning Treats )Briefly glancing in her direction, then returning his attention to the matters at hand, Michael grinned, “What? It’s healthy.”
“You call peanut butter coated in chocolate healthy?”
“Well, peanut butter is full of nutrients, and I have it on good authority that chocolate is the fifth food group.” He watched as she stretched out in the chair next to him, sipping her own coffee.
Making a sound that was a mix between a laugh and a scoff, Sara continued. “Whose authority would that be?”
“My brother’s”.
“Ah, yes. I forgot that Lincoln Burrows is well known for his nutritional insight”.
Michael nodded in agreement, taking a bite of his breakfast. “Besides, it appears that I am not the only one with a sweet tooth Dr. Tancredi”.
“What? This?” Sara held up her plate. Two pieces of lightly toasted bread smothered in honey rested upon it.
“Mmhmm...I would have thought someone who witnessed the damning affects of sugar every day would wake up and eat something plain and boring, yet very healthy for breakfast. Not honey with a side of toast.” He grinned at her.
“Honey is a natural sweetening agent and we all know that natural equals good for you. And...” she continued, “at least it’s not full of preservatives and sucrose like what you’re consuming over there Mr. Scofield.”
“Natural is good for you huh?” Michael popped the rest of the cup into his mouth and continued, “and here I thought cyanide was natural.”
“Oh, that’s attractive.” Sara rolled her eyes, ignoring his last remark.
Smiling, Michael took a sip of his coffee, enjoying the comfortable silence that had fallen around them. He watched as she stretched in her chair, slightly arching her back and flexing her calf muscles. For what felt like the millionth time since he first laid eyes on her, her beauty shocked him. Shocked...and affected him. He reached down and placed his mug on the ground before speaking. “You know, I might be convinced to share.”
“Really?” A playful looked gleamed in Sara’s eyes, “and what would I need to do to convince you?”
Michael didn’t answer in the conventional way; instead, he stood and sauntered towards the patio door, allowing his actions to speak for him, answering her question. Laughing Sara rose herself, quickly discarding her own breakfast and following him inside.
